Quick answer
A website care plan covers hosting, uptime monitoring, security updates, nightly backups and content edits. With BuildSites it is included in every plan rather than sold separately: the $297-a-month website plan, the $297 automation plan and the $445 combined plan all come with it. It exists so a broken form or an expired plugin is fixed before customers notice, and so changes never wait weeks.
TorontoEvery site we launch for businesses in North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, East York, Downtown and the Beaches goes onto a care plan by default. We look after sites across Toronto from our Toronto base. We work with you by video and on site where it helps.
What happens to a website nobody looks after?
Software behind a site updates constantly. Plugins, themes, servers and security patches change every week. A site nobody maintains falls behind, and eventually something conflicts, gets exploited, or just stops working.
Usually the owner finds out when a customer mentions it. The problem is not the server going offline; it is that nobody was watching.
What does a care plan cover each month?
A care plan covers hosting, uptime monitoring every minute, security updates within 24 hours, nightly backups kept for 30 days, and content edits.
A care plan is a monthly service that keeps a website online, secure and up to date.
- Hosting on fast, Canadian-friendly infrastructure.
- Uptime monitoring every minute, with a human alerted when something fails.
- Security updates applied within 24 hours of release, plus a firewall.
- Nightly backups kept for 30 days.
- Content edits: hours, prices, photos, a new team member. Send a message and it is done.
- Performance checks so the site stays fast as content grows.
- A monthly note with what happened and what changed.
The monthly note gives the owner a record of what happened and what changed that month.
Is there a difference between hosting and a care plan?
Hosting is a server. A care plan is hosting plus the people and systems that keep the site updated, backed up, monitored and edited.
A server keeps files online. Applying security patches, restoring a backup, or updating a phone number on a Tuesday afternoon are tasks that belong to the care plan layer on top of that server.
What does a care plan cost with BuildSites?
Nothing extra. Every BuildSites plan includes it at no separate fee.
$0 upfront and no per-edit charge. The care plan is part of the monthly price from day one.

How do automation features connect to the care plan?
The automation plan adds lead follow-up, booking reminders and invoicing. It runs alongside the same hosting, monitoring and maintenance included in every plan.
Security updates are applied within 24 hours and uptime is checked every minute, so the foundation the automation runs on stays stable.

Questions we get asked
Do I need a care plan if my site is new?
Yes, arguably more. New sites get the most attention from bots and the most edits from owners.
Can I cancel my plan early?
Plans run on a 12-month term. After that they continue month to month at the same price, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice. If you cancel during the 12-month term, the remaining months are due. The domain, content and your accounts are yours from day one.
Do you maintain sites you did not build?
Often yes, after a quick audit. Some sites need fixes before they can be properly maintained.
